Smilodon Populator by synnabar Smilodon Populator by synnabar
Sara Palmer (Caribou) suggested I try a smilodon in my "hyenabones" style, so here it is. Again, a very enjoyable (and equally anatomically impossible) experiment. I am a huge fan of prehistoric mammals, especially feline ones (surprise surprise)!

RSVP pen, gouache, watercolor on Strathmore watercolor paper.

Certainly the most accurate speculation we can make regarding Smilodon's appearance given the available evidence. Bravo! Keep up the good work

Nope!
This was posted in 2006 and that other image was posted in 2007. Plus, you can make out the tag by :iconsynnabar: at the bottom, if you look closely.
So the OTHER person is the theif, not ~synnabar.

Fff, I'm so sorry. That was a VERY old comment, and I was probably meant to post it on the other one but didn't look properly. ;n;

I love it, and also what you could do to add a little bit of a oddity to it is add some eyes, so that way you could have a bit of an exoskeleton look to it!

Wow, gosh, thanks for the kind comments! :) :) :)

I can make prints of just about anything you see here. I have some listed on my website: [link] but that needs to be updated (soooon, I keep telling myself).

I also sell mini-print sets of 10 images each on cardstock, each approx. 3" x 4". If you want to see what's in each set, I could scan them in for you (but no worries if not... eventually I'll have it up on my site, too).

Thanks again for the wonderful comments!!! YOUR work is just awesome - wow, fantastic taxidermy!!!!

Yeah, I'd love to get some prints from you!
The main one's i'm interested in are:
Hyenabones
Smilodon Populator
The Bribe
Poetic Dragon

And I'm not sure if you will sell prints of comissioned work, but I love "Morier the Dark" and "Grimmutt for Crowe Basalt"

I'd like them to be around 8x10-ish if possible (easier to matte/frame)
If you'd like to do a trade, I'll have a new journal posted soon! New skulls like Spotted Civets, minks and skunks.

I can get those all to you if you like! They're all 8-1/2" x 11". HOWEVER I also love to do trades! If you have anything you'd like to trade, let's talk when you're ready! :D

Wow.... as strange as this sounds, you should be illustrating what prehistoric creatures might have looked like. Give everyone a few fresh idea on what creatures could have looked like.

Awesome! You really got the feeling of the old and interesting part of the animal and still making it feel as real as a lion is today. Excellent work!

S. Populator is in fact one of my favorite prehistoric felines. Plus Homotherium and Miracinonyx of course.

Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D.(oibyrd's daily devs) feature :winner:! congrats!
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure and also, to introduce the more popular artists to the new/overlooked deviants. I prefer to showcase ALL artwork that I love (and that includes popular artists with a fair amount of traffic to their work) in order to create a non-biased feature of the talent on dA. *PLZ DO KEEP IN MIND - some of the features are quite popular and obviously don't need extra help - however - I enjoy posting them because they inspire other artists. Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! Sandi xoxo
