Silvermane/Maverick: I was tired of coloring all my work in Photoshop, so I dusted off my colored pencils and did this in about 4 hours (1 hour to do the initial pencil work at lunch, about 3 hours here and there at home). It's Silvermane, an anthro white lion (done for a birthday present), and the two scars on his muzzle symbolize some things he's been through recently. I purposely tried to work a lot of color in there, as well as some human features, with mixed results. The only "true" black is in the pupils; the rest are mixes of colors. Mechanical pencil, Prismacolor and Design colored pencils, some use of a colorless blender, on toned cardstock.

That is amazing! I'm surprised there aren't any comments yet. I love the use of color - wow!!! Vibrant blue eyes and the orangy-pink nose stand out against the yellow-beige fur color. Stunning job. +fav

This is simply wonderful!! I love this image: it's so realistic and full of detail. I love the color of the fur and the eyes: they're so deep.

I must agree on this. Very well done. The eyes are showing compassion, the fresh wounds are showing courage... There is plenty of room for interpretation. And, most importantly, is just really pretty.
