Many times I worry so much about drawing gryphons the "right" way that I end up not drawing them at all. Finally, for this piece, I just pushed those thoughts aside and drew what was fun for me, in my own (admittedly inaccurate, I know) way.
Synnabar looks a lot smaller and fluffier than her usual!
(Please note I am not currently taking commissions)
You say you CAN'T draw gryphons? Something wrong with that... because that gryphon is beautifully done!
It looks so cuddly and soft, and it would be awesome to see more of this from ya!
Great job!

Uh? I don't get it, why do you think your depictions of Gryphons are inaccurate? With fantasy creatures, artistic license is very important, and I find your interpretation very good. I love your Gryphons.
I totally agree with you; I think, because they ARE creatures of fantasy, that it's more interesting to see artists use artistic license and draw them in their own style.
Mostly I said that because some people are very picky about wings and wing attachment, beak structure, etc., or expect the avian part of a gryphon to resemble a specific bird... and mine don't. I think it's cool when people draw very "realistic" gryphs, but personally I prefer to do my "own" versions; it's more fun for me.
Yeah, it's YOUR interpretation, but anyway, the way you've chose to draw them, may it be the one purists want to see or not (personally I don't care), I find the way you draw them very realistic. I mean: it's easy to imagine Arch'teryx living, walking, sitting in the grass or whatever his owner will imagine, from the way you've drawn that Gryphon. Anatomy, fur and feather patterns, faceexpression, movements: they all look natural, and that's something I really like in your drawing. So, more Gryphs, they're just awesome!
(And many thanks for the watch, much appreciated).
I think the gryphon looks great and that you have nothing to worry about! Just do what you like to and everyone will respect that ^_^ Good luck and i'll be coming by to see your other works.
The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
